Joan Miró Museum

Museo Miró
This Museum-Foundation is completely dedicated to the Catalan artist Joan Miró.

Is located in Montjuïc mountain, where you'll find many other museums, including the largest one in the city, the National Art Museum of Catalonia.

The museum is housed in a building designed by the architect Josep Lluís Sert, a personal friend of the painter and indisputable leader of rationalist architecture. It was opened to public in 1975.

The building is designed as an open space, with large terraces and courtyards that facilitate the motion and visit of pubblic, providing natural light in almost all rooms.
As for the content of the exhibition, it was Joan Miró who wanted to create a place that would accommodate his works, so it's following his decissions.

His intention was also to create a center dedicated to the study of new trends in Contemporary Art, and this is exactly what you will find at the Fundació Miró nowadays,
