It is located at Passeig de Borbó Street , where you'll see the harbour and the mountain of Montjuïc as a background, as well as the beach of La Barceloneta extended at the very end of the avenue.
This seafront side of Barcelona is full of bars and restaurants, where you can taste the best fresh fish and seafood specialities.
This center is not dedicated to artworks, it does not contain any artistic piece . It is a fundamentally and educational museum , understandably explaining the history and origins of the Spanish region Catalonia, having Barcelona as the capital city.
The value of the museum is its historical content , we recommend a visit if you want to learn more about the history of Catalonia and come to a better understanding of our culture.
It has four floors organized chronologically , talking about of the past and present of Catalonia, from prehistory to the early 80s of the XX century. You will find here various objects, tools used by early settlers as well as reproductions of their houses and clothes, their way of life...documents and visual explanations of their culture.
Undoubtedly, this is a very complete , very interesting and educational center , although it can be too specific . Their facilities are very large, so a complete visit will take you a while . Keep this in mind if you have short time during your stay Barcelona.
