Travel by taxi

In Barcelona, the taxis are black and yellow and show a green roof sign on the front right corner when available for hire. The meter currently starts at €2.10 and rises in increments of €1.07 per kilometer. These rates apply from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays. Out of these hours, the rates are rising by 20%. There are official supplements of EUR 1 per bag for luggage.

Trips to or from the train station are subject to an additional charge of €2.10; a taxi to or from the airport or the Barcelona Cruise Terminal is subject to an additional charge of €4.20, as is the case for trips to or from a football match. The minimum price for taxi service to or from Barcelona Airport is € 20 for T1, T2 and T3 terminals and €39 for T4 terminals. There are cabstands (parades, in Catalan) all over the city, and you can also hail cabs on the street, although if you’re too close to the official stand, they may not stop. You can call a taxi by phone 24 hours a day.

Drivers don’t expect a tip, but rounding up the fare is standard.
